“I enjoy seeing families realize their goals, especially when they weren’t sure how they’d get there,” says Lisa B. Dreher, owner of Nashville based Dreher Advisory Services. Since May 2010, Dreher has been changing the way families think of their finances and the role they play in their day to day lives and the lives they want to live in the future. To Dreher, it’s all about sticking to the plan, and she’s helping her clients reframe their financial picture.

Dreher has worked hard to earn the trust of her clients. She holds her Certified Public Accountant and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certifications, and is a licensed securities representative and licensed insurance agent. She offers securities and registered investment advisory services through Silver Oak Securities, Inc. – Member FINRA /SIPC. Over the past 35 years, Dreher has amassed a wealth of knowledge in public accounting, corporate income tax, and financial planning that she pulls from to provide a truly unique experience for clients of Dreher Advisory Services.

“There are so many CFPs out there. But, I think what makes me a little different is that I actually do comprehensive financial plans,” says Dreher. “My plans take into account everything – retirement, insurance, estate planning, and tax efficiency – if it impacts my clients, it’s in that plan because I want to be sure that all the pieces fit. Then we implement, measure, and regularly review.”

And her only regrets – that she didn’t move into private practice sooner. “When I left the last firm I worked with, I took only a very few clients with me,” recalls Dreher. “ But, I knew it was time. I’d spent the last 30 or so years learning what to do and what I wanted to do differently. While I wish I could have made this move sooner, there’s a certain amount of confidence you have to have to step out on your own, and there’s no class you can take for that. In 2010, I knew that I’d finally gotten to that place. I basically had to start over, but I was starting over doing it my way.”

Now, having been in business for over four years, Dreher knows what makes her business work and is clearly aware of the areas she needs to improve. “Networking,” admits Dreher. “I’m a technician by nature (a nod to The EMyth Revisited by Michael E. Gerber). I love meeting with clients and creating financial plans and could do that all day. But, it takes more than working in your business to grow your business; you have to work on it, doing things like networking and marketing.”

For business owners hoping to forge a similar path, Dreher has this to say, “Figure out what you’re good at, and what value you’ll bring to your clients. Get the right credentials, the education, and network. Then gather up your confidence and go. Be true to what you’re trying to do and who you want to do it for.”

When Dreher, a Kentucky native, isn’t working on financial plans, she’s on the green. Next to faith and family, Dreher loves golf, and currently sits on the Board of the Executive Women’s Golf Association.
